• Your Gator settings are not modified. It is up to you to uninstall Gator if you no longer wish to use it. However, Gator and DejaSurf can coexist on the same machine if you like.

Step 1: Export Your Gator Settings

IMPORTANT: The most commonly encountered problem is to skip sub-step 3 (on the conversion dialog). The conversion will not work if you export your Gator settings with a Master Password set. You must first REMOVE the master password and then export your settings. Afterwards, you can re-enable your Gator master password using the ADD button.

Step 2: Select Import Options

Click for screen shot. You can choose to overwrite your existing DejaSurf settings in situations where similar information is stored in both the Gator export file and DejaSurf.

Step 3: Begin The Conversion

While converting, you may see the message below. This is just a reminder that credit information is not converted.

When the process completes, you will see this message:

Conversion Complete! What do I do now?

1. Verifying your passwords. Check that your password converted correctly. Use the Dejasurf...More...Export menu item to view them.

2. Uninstalling Gator. If you want to uninstall Gator, use Control Panel, "Add/Remove Programs" to remove Gator. Note that Gator may have installed several applications on your machine.

You may desire to keep both Gator and DejaSurf temporarily. Both applications can be installed and run simultaneously on your machine.

3. Set a master password on DejaSurf.  Choose the DejaSurf...Password... menu to set you master password. This password must be entered once every time you reboot your machine to allow access to your personal information. It is also required to Export your passwords in DejaSurf.

We recommend you set this password to prevent unauthorized access to your password list.

Q. Why do I get an error message about the "master password"?

Q. What if I have more than one user "account" in Gator?

Gator only allows you to export one account at a time to the .GAT export file. You can run the utility several times to export multiple accounts and passwords for each account. Then just rerun the DejaSurf conversion wizard for each file.

Q. How do I import my credit card information?

For security reasons, the DejaSurf Conversion Wizard does not decrypt credit card information in Gator files. If there is enough demand for this feature, we may add it in a future version.

Q. How can I tell if my logins have been imported?

Use the Dejasurf...More...Export menu item to view them.
