Procedure for transferring your DejaSurf passwords and personal information from one computer to another.

The version of DejaSurf you are currently using does not have any automated method for transferring your personal information (logins, recordings, etc) from one machine to another.

If you just want to backup your personal information, try this link.

The following manual procedure is provided for those users who are comfortable with Windows Explorer.

Step 1: Install DejaSurf on the new machine.

The installation program can be found here. Make a note of which directory you install DejaSurf on the NEW MACHINE.

Step 2: Determine where DejaSurf is installed ON THE OLD MACHINE.

Normally, DejaSurf is installed in the c:\program files\dejasurf directory. Use Explorer to find DejaSurf on your machine.

Step 3: Copy information from the OLD MACHINE TO THE NEW MACHINE.

Use Explorer to copy the DejaSurf directory and all sub-directories to a floppy (or directly to the new machine via a network, etc.).

The most important subdirectories are:

  • c:\program files\DejaSurf\DejaSurf Logins
  • c:\program files\DejaSurf\DejaSurf Users
  • c:\program files\DejaSurf\DejaSurf Recordings

These subdirectories contain your personal information.

Step 4: Set your master password.

Use the DejaSurf toolbar menu to re-set your master password on the NEW MACHINE.

Step 5: Contact DejaSurf to re-register the installation on the new machine.

If you previously registered DejaSurf on the OLD MACHINE, you can contact our support department for a new key.

NOTE: Your license is only valid for for a single user on a single machine. You should purchase and additional license or uninstall DejaSurf from the old machine once the transfer is complete.
